The PADI Tec Basics course is a bridge from recreational to technical diving, and a great place to start if you want to learn technical diving. It exposes recreational divers to tec diving and entry level tec diving skills.

Knowledge Development - The Tec Basics course is conducted over three days. With your Tec Instructor, you will complete two classroom knowledge development and practical application sessions, two confined water training dives, and two ocean dives.

You’ll learn about:

  • Technical diving’s risks and responsibilities
  • Technical diving equipment, proper rigging and set up
  • Gas planning, and decompression planning
  • Team diving techniques and emergency procedures

Confined Water and Open Water Dives – You will develop your Tec Basics skills in both confined and open water with a minimum of 1 pool session, and 2 ocean dives.

To enroll in the Tec Basics course, you must be:

  • A PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

  • A PADI Enriched Air "Nitrox" Diver (the Nitrox Course may be taken in conjunction with the Tec Basic course)

  • At least 18 years old and be in good health

Tec Basics students are expected to provide their own personal scuba gear including a dive computer. Technical BCD (tec harness), regulators,  wetsuit or dry suit, tanks, and weights are available for rent if needed.

Scubatude students receive a discount on all personal gear!

All expenses including boats, transportation, etc. are paid by the student.
